Oiwake Farm Introduction to Our Farm Facilities

One Goal:
To Breed Strong Horses.

Opened in 1995, Oiwake Farm is the newest farm within the Shadai Group.
It began with breeding and yearling operations, and in 2011, the opening of Oiwake Farm Lily Valley—its training division—allowed it to evolve into a fully integrated farm that handles everything from foaling to training.

Today, Oiwake operates across four facilities:

Oiwake Farm
Oiwake Farm Kasuga
Oiwake Farm Lily Valley
Oiwake Farm Yamamoto Training Center

Among these, Oiwake Farm and Kasuga are dedicated to breeding operations, housing and managing broodmares and foals.

Oiwake Farm Lily Valley

Opened in 2011 in Higashi-Hayakita, Abira, this is our main training facility.
It features a stunning all-weather uphill track over 1,000 meters long, as well as inner and outer circular tracks for varied training
programs.
In 2017, the yearling division was relocated here, where we care for weanlings until their yearling summer or autumn.
Since 2018, this has also served as the venue for our club’s annual tours.

Uphill Track

1,020m straight course
All-weather, roofed, and highly functional

Inspired by the JRA’s Ritto Training Center (home of Japan’s first hill track, built in 1985), our uphill course features a steeper incline than even Miho (18m elevation) or Ritto (32m), with a total elevation of 36.8m. This allows for increased workload, maximizing a thoroughbred’s potential.

The 500-meter section, which makes up half of the uphill track, has a 4% incline —believed to offer the most efficient and balanced load.
Large skylights create an open and stress-free training environment.

Circular Tracks

Two courses for targeted training

The inner course (600m) features 10 cm deep sand and is mainly used for warming up, early training, and cooling down.
The outer course (1,000m) uses 13 cm sand and is designed for timed workouts and advanced conditioning.
Both are roofed, all-weather courses with skylights that create a bright, calming atmosphere for horses and riders alike.

Oiwake Farm Yamamoto Training Center

Originally opened by Shadai Farm in 1992 in Miyagi Prefecture, Yamamoto Training Center has been used by Oiwake Farm since 2013.
This facility primarily houses active racehorses preparing for their debut or upcoming races.
It caters to a wide age range, from 2-year-olds to older horses, providing tailored training plans based on each horse’s individual condition and goals.

In addition to horses bred and raised at Oiwake Farm, we are proud to offer a rich and diverse lineup thanks to our strong collaboration with other farms in the Shadai Group.
